We are pleased to announce that Open School Week is scheduled for November 17th to November 21st by the New York City Department of Education. This is the time to reinforce parent-school relationships that will lead to a dynamic partnership necessary to ensure the educational success of each student. Parent Teacher conferences are scheduled for Thursday, November 13 for grades K-5. This will be a half-day for all students. Students will be dismissed at 11:25 am. Conferences will be scheduled on Thursday afternoon from 12:30 pm to 3:00pm and from 4:30 pm to 7:30pm. Conference appointment times are for ten minutes only, so it is imperative that you be on time. You will be contacted by your child’s classroom teacher to set up an appointment.
Fifth grade teachers, Claudia Coia and Karen Cook, will also hold conferences on Friday, November 14th during school hours so that all fifth grade parents can confer with Claudia and Karen together. Fifth grade PT conferences on Friday, November 14th will be held in Room 235. Friday, November 14th will be a full day of school for fifth grade students, per diem subs will be provided in order to accommodate additional conference times.
Specialists, including Science (Rm. 143), Art (Rm. 241), and Physical Education (Rm 235) will be available during conference hours on Thursday should you choose to conference with them. Please email Gina Goodman if you are interested in schedules for Carol Dolgon (Instrumental Music) or Sarah Prusasky (Lower Grades Music). Elana Hoffman will also be available during conferences on Thursday should you choose to meet with her. Parent Teacher conferences are an excellent time for teachers to share individual goals for student progress and for you, as parents, to share any specific concerns regarding your child’s educational experience.
Open School Week is a time for you to observe your child’s class ‘in action’. The following days and times parents are welcomed into school to observe their child’s classroom:

Please be advised that you are asked to bring the attached “pass” with your signature for open school visitations. You must enter through Third Avenue doors. Having this pass will permit you to enter the building without needing to sign in. However, all parents should be prepared to provide identification to the security agents.
