Dear PS 77 and PS 198 Staff and Families,
On Tuesday, February 10th, we held our monthly Student Council meeting. Representatives were greeted by our schools’ Parent Coordinators, Danielle Santana and Gina Goodman. They spoke with the students about their important role as liaisons between the school and the parents, and about the many ways in which they support our school community. We are all grateful to have such dedicated professionals in our schools!
We did an artistic ice breaker in which students were asked to draw a self-portrait portraying the way in which they envision themselves. At our next meeting, we will see if others recognize us from our self-portraits so that we can compare our views of ourselves with the way others see us.
We then discussed our upcoming annual Ronald McDonald House Pantry Drive, in which our schools join together to collect a wide array of pantry items for the families who reside at the Ronald McDonald House while their children are receiving treatment at area hospitals. Students made posters publicizing the drive which will be held March 2nd through March 27th. Keep your eyes open for a letter specifying the items that each grade level will be asked to bring.
Finally, we discussed our upcoming School Spirit Day on Friday, February 27th, Doppelganger Day. A doppelganger is a group or a class who looks or dresses alike. Many classes will be deciding on a class theme such as a matching color or pattern or an accessory everyone will wear. The most important element of Doppelganger Day is that no one feels excluded, so everyone will match a group in the building.
We closed, as we always do, with our Student Council handshake. We look forward to continuing the hard work of our Student Council in the coming months.
