Dear 5th Grade Families,
Here are some practice tasks for the next few weeks. I understand some of you are going away during the holidays and won’t be able to practice. In addition, the holidays is a time for all of us to take a break from our busy work and school days. However, if you practice a few minutes a day before you go away it will make a difference.
Essential Elements #93 – 96
Practice the notes on the G string. Make sure you are fingering and reading the notes correctly. If you are confused how to play any of these notes you can use your flash cards to assist you.
A Very Short History of Music
Please clap out the rhythms from measures 52 – 65. Use a metronome if you have one. Practice tempo should be quarter note equals 90 beats per minute. Work your way up to get to the performance tempo, which will be quarter note equals 120 beats per minute. 120 beats per minute is the fastest tempo we will get to in this section. Please also work on measures 32 – 39. You will be able to recognize whether or not you are playing the notes correctly, since you know what the tune sounds like.
Caissons Go Rolling Along and That’s What I Like
Please try to take a look at both of these pieces. Listen to the recordings I have provided and use the flashcards to help you learn the pieces. These pieces are both pieces you have heard and I know you can learn. Also if you have any questions please feel free to come see me in between 8:00 to 8:15 A.M. on Mondays to Thursdays or from 2:30 to 3:00 P.M. on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Enjoy the holidays.
All the best,
