Dear 4th Grade Families,
Please work playing different rhythms we learned in class: Pineapple Tango, Down Berry Up Berry, Charlie Brown and Snoopy, and Mississippi Hot Dog on each open string. Make sure it sounds steady.
Essential Elements #28 – 33 (Tempo and Form Groups)
Please make sure you are playing B on the A string correctly. It is first finger on the A string for violins, violas, and cellos. For basses it is fourth finger on the G string. For #29 to 32 please ensure you are going from one note to the next without any hesitation. I recommend working backwards for exercise #33. Start at the last measure and keep going back one measure. It will make a huge difference compared to starting from the beginning
Essential Elements #33 – 37 (Dynamics and Articulation Groups)
Remember to leave your fingers down whenever you see a bracket. Notice which measures repeat. The way #37 works is to use a block of rosin and practice the exercise as written. If you want to challenge yourself more you can do this on an open string after you feel confident doing this on a block of rosin.
