Dear 5th Grade Families,
Here are the practice tasks for this week.
Essential Elements: Please review the pages of all the notes on the A and D strings. The exercises to help you with this are #10 to 30. Work on the notes that are giving you the most trouble. You can also use your flashcards.
Measures 18 – 23 of A Very Short History of Music – Please make sure you are playing this section with correct rhythm. Chant and clap the rhythm before you play this section. Please also take this opportunity to listen to the recording to ensure you are playing the rhythm and notes accurately. If you know what it sounds like you will know how to play it better. Measures 24 – 31 of A Very Short History of Music – Please play this with appropriate dynamics as we discussed in class. Remember we want to provide our audience with the surprise. Exaggerating dynamics is how will achieve this.
You should be able to play from measure 18 to the end of A Very Short History of Music. It’s a good idea to play from measure 18 to the end that way you will feel confident with your part sooner rather than later.
All the best,
