4th Grade Practice Tasks 1/28/19 to 2/3/19

Dear 4th Grade Families,

Please ensure your child is practicing at least 50 minutes a week.  This is part of the Lower Lab Homework Policy.  In addition, I really want your child to feel successful for our concert in May.  Here are the practice tasks for this week.

Essential Elements #33, 34, and 36 – Please practice #33, 34, and 36 in the Essential Elements book.  33 and 34 are on page 12 and 36 is on page 13.  Please ensure you are playing with the best sound possible.  The way to get the best sound is making sure you are holding the bow correctly, the instrument correctly, and playing the notes with the best intonation (pitch).  I am confident with smart practicing you will be able to play these as if you were writing your name.

Olympic Fanfare Measures 40 – 45 – Please practice these measures.  Make sure you clap out the rhythm first.  Use a metronome and set the tempo to quarter note equals 60 – 70 beats per minute.  Most of these notes are notes you have learned.  The only new note is for violas, which is B on the G string.  The way to play B on the G string is 2 fingers on the 2nd tape as if you were playing F# on the D string or C# on the A string.

If you have any questions please feel free to see me from 8:00 to 8:15 on Monday to Thursday.

All the best,

Ms. Waldman
