We have an exciting month of digital projects ahead for the students. In the 1st grade, students will be completing social studies and steam projects in their Seesaw Journals. Seesaw is a platform that allows students to create digital portfolios that can be shared with their teachers and classmates. Here’s an example of a 1st grade seesaw activity that students will complete this week.
This assignment integrates social studies with digital media because it has the students think about the different resources they would want or need in a community.
In the 2nd grade, students are concluding their research of Henry Hudson by forming an opinion of him based on the question below:
Do you think Henry Hudson was a successful explorer? Why or why not?
In the 5th grade, we’re integrating technology with social studies by having the students use worldbook online and other digital resources to learn about the Canadian Provinces. Students will work with partners to create Buzzfeed Listicles.
Here’s an example
Students will also be introduced to scratch 3.0 Beta, a visual programming website that allows students to create games and stories. We will integrate social studies projects with Scratch and Makey Makey.
