Dear Fifth Grade Families,
Now that your child has received an offer, I wanted to inform you of the next steps:
- If you are happy with your child’s middle school offer, you do not need to do anything further. Congratulations!
- Participating in the appeals round is optional. You should only participate in the appeals round if you are interested in changing your middle school offer. If your child gets an offer to a program in the appeals round, it replaces their main round offer. If your child does not get an appeals round offer, they will keep their main round offer. Families can apply to up to 3 middle school programs in the appeals round. It can be any of the programs that were on the main round application in the fall. Choices should be ranked by order of preference.
There are two ways you can appeal:
1.) Online: Log into your account at Myschools.nyc and click on the “Appeals” tab. Follow the instructions to access your child’s appeals round application and apply.
2.) In person: Request a paper appeals round application from the school. To do this, check the box on the other side of the results letter and return the form to Josh. Then complete the paper application and return to Josh no later than May 3, 2019.
- If your child will NOT be attending a DOE public school next year, please complete, sign and return the results letter form to me no later than May 3, 2019.
