Physical Education in June

Dear families,

Its been a really exciting month for physical education events and activities. Last Friday, we completed Field Day at Central Park. Students participated in a variety of field day stations such as parachute, beach relay, 3 legged relay and potato sack relay.

We also brought 18 students to the New York City Track Championships at Icahn Stadium. We had several outstanding performances and personal best times at this meet.

In Physical Education class, our students are playing pillow polo, a type of hockey game that teaches students skills such as stick handling, shooting and passing without the risk of major injury. The games are usually played with7-8 players on a team. In grades 3-5, students are assigned positions and play 7 on 7 games that last anywhere from 5 to 8 minutes.
