Upper Grade Digital Media

Dear families,

Welcome back to school! I hope your child had a restful summer. In upper grade digital media, the students will begin the school year by reviewing chromebook and macbook air operations. In addition, students will participate in the digital citizenship unit where they will research and discuss topics such as cyberbullying, identity theft, privacy, plagiarism and copyright laws. Students will learn about COPPA and FERPA laws that protect their private information. We will create projects using use social media tools such as google classroom, padlet and flipgrid. The curriculum resources will come from Common sense Media website.

It is highly recommended that students practice typing at home for at least 20 minutes each week. Students can log into their school account from home and sign in with google on typing.com.

Our goal is to have our students typing 40-50 words per minute by the end of the school year for all upper grade students.
