Over the next few weeks, students will complete their Digital Citizenship training modules from Common Sense Media. Students will discuss important topics such as privacy, identity theft, media balance and plagiarism. By the end of this unit, all students should know what it means to be a Digital Citizen at PS 77 Lower Lab school.
Students will also participate in a cyberbullying lessons where they will learn the difference between an upstander and bystander. We will discuss strategies that students should use to handle a Cyberbully.
At the conclusion of this unit, the 3rd grade students will create short video using Loom screencasting software where they will answer the question “What does it mean to be a digital citizen?”
The 4th grade students will work in groups of two to create digital citizen super hero comics using an application called Pixton.
The 5th grade students will create public service announcements on their choice of Digital Citizenship topics (Cyberbullying, plagiarism, privacy and identity theft). We will use the Ipads to film the psa’s and vimeo for publishing.
