Your school has been identified by the New York State Board of Elections as an early voting site for the upcoming election cycle. From October 26 to November 3, a select area of the school will be utilized for this purpose. When schools serve as an elections site, they model civic engagement for our students, who see firsthand one of the cornerstones of our democracy: the right and responsibility to vote.
We write to assure you that the safety and learning of students and staff is our top priority during the early voting period, and we’re working with the NYPD to ensure this building is secure through additional staff and careful planning. NYC DOE Directors of Facilities and Borough Safety Directors have met with your principal to provide additional support and minimize any disruption. Every instructional day counts, and we are committed to maintaining continuity of your child’s educational experience throughout this period.
In the coming days you will receive follow-up information about any impact to your school’s space utilization as an early voting site. If you have any questions in the interim, please contact your school principal.
