Greetings From Our New Lower Lab Social Worker

Dear Lower Lab Families:

It is my great pleasure to introduce myself: my name is Rebecca Dransfield and I am the newly appointed Licensed Clinical Social Worker of the Lower Lab School.  I am here to support the social, emotional and academic growth and success of all Lower Lab students.  I received my Master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University.  I began my career at Bellevue Hospital Center’s inpatient pediatrics unit.  I worked at the Lorge School, a non-public school serving children with learning disabilities and emotional disturbances, and most recently at the Urban Assembly School of Design and Construction, a public high school in Hell’s Kitchen.  When working with children I use a variety of therapeutic modalities, and I ALWAYS use a strengths-based approach.

In addition to working with Lower Lab students, I am here to support families!   I have helped parents in the past with topics ranging from how to help children make friends, get organized, and get along with siblings, to bereavement, anxiety, and depression.  I am also happy to help with outside referrals, not only for students, but their families as well.  I will be available for confidential parent meetings on Monday mornings from 8:30am-10:00am; please email me at rdransfield@lowerlab.org to schedule an appointment.

I look forward to hearing from you, and to meeting you at the November 14th Parent-Teacher Conferences.  My office is room 137, down the hall from the Main Office.

All the best,
Rebecca Dransfield, LCSW
School Social Worker
