Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Mary Boncher leads workshops for Lower Lab families and is also available for free private sessions.


  • Transitioning to Kindergarten or Transferring to a New Elementary School Thursday, September 7, 2017, 9:00-10:00
  • “Electronics Everywhere: Dealing with Electronics in Your Children’s Lives.” Will include:   – How overuse of electronics impacts the brain, social, emotional, and physical development- Electronics are here to stay- Figuring out reasonable limits – Supporting communication without over-reliance on electronics. October evening off-site!
  • “Promoting Children’s Motivation to Learn.”   Will include:   – What is motivation and how to promote it – The function and support of grit – Dealing with allergic reactions to weak subjects Friday, November 10, 2017, 8:15 right after drop off
  • “The Tough Stuff of Social Relationships: From Top Dogs and Queen Bees to Best Friends. Friday, December 8, 2017, 8:15 right after drop off
  • Positive Reinforcement: The Secret of Successful Parenting Tuesday, January 23, 2018, after PTA meeting between 9:00 and 9:15 
  • Handling Group Dynamics including Feeling Excluded and Standing up for Oneself.”   Friday, February 9, 2018, 8:15 right after drop off
  • Overcoming Challenges. Will include:   – Developing frustration tolerance.- Dealing with failure. – The role of perfectionism. – Competition and gifted children.  Friday, March 23rd 8:15 right after drop off
  • “Siblings: Understanding and managing the dynamics” Will include:   – Sibling positions – Rivalry – Family time with diverse competing children – Are sibling friendships possible and if so how to promote. Friday, April 20, 2018, after PTA meeting between 9:00 and 9:15
